Innovative achievements in cross-border ecological protection technology between Shenzhen and Hong Kong emerge, and the integrated monitoring system for Shenzhen Bay wetlands is put into use
2025-12-22
Recently, the "Shenzhen Hong Kong Shenzhen Bay Wetland Integrated Stereoscopic Monitoring System" jointly developed by member units of the Shenzhen Hong Kong Ecological Environment Green Development Alliance has been officially put into use. The system integrates multiple technological means such as satellite remote sensing, drone inspections, and ground monitoring stations to achieve real-time monitoring of the water quality, vegetation, and biodiversity of Shenzhen Bay wetlands, providing accurate data support for cross-border wetland protection.
The Shenzhen Bay (Back Bay) Wetland is an important ecological barrier shared by Shenzhen and Hong Kong, carrying important ecological functions such as habitat for migratory birds and water purification. The monitoring system put into use this time breaks through the data barriers in the Shenzhen Hong Kong region, establishes a unified monitoring indicator system and data sharing platform, and realizes real-time communication of monitoring data and collaborative application of analysis results. Through this system, researchers can accurately grasp the growth status of mangroves and the migration patterns of migratory birds, and timely warn of water quality abnormalities and ecological risks.
The relevant person in charge of the Alliance said that the next step would be to promote the application of this monitoring technology in cross-border ecological areas such as wutong Mountain Honghualing Ecological Corridor, organize Shenzhen and Hong Kong scientific research institutions to carry out technical research, develop more innovative technologies suitable for cross-border ecological protection, and help build a whole chain ecological governance system of "monitoring assessment protection restoration".
